Ashok Chawla takes over as secretary, Department of Economic Affairs

Ashok Chawla takes over as secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance today.

Ashok Chawla, IAS-1973 batch of Gujarat Cadre joined as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance here this morning. Chawla is considered as a veteran in economic affairs and has held the post of  Deputy Secretary, Director, Additional Secretary and Special Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs before joining as Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation from February 1, 2007.  He has also worked as Joint Secretary and also Additional Secretary & FA in the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers.  For a short duration, he also held the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

Chawla is Post Graduate in Economics.
