Bhujbal said that under Deora the Congress cannot even imagine of recapturing the Mumbai municipal corporation, which is scheduled to go to the polls next February. Bhujbal, who joined the Congress from the Sena, has seen a surprisingly quick rise in the party, thanks to the blessings of Sharad Pawar.

Bhujbal criticised Deora for his refusal to say anything against Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray or his family, in spite of the recent exposures linking the family with alleged land-related crimes in Mumbai. Deora has said that he is against personal attacks.

Bhujbal criticised Deoras style of being soft of the Thackerays. He suggested that if the high command did not want to hurt Deora or evict him from MRCC presidentship then it could elevate him to a higher position (in the AICC).
