The British Council, UK's international organisation for education opportunities and cultural relations, is embarking on a new project "" creative future "" aimed at entrepreneurs in the creative industry.

Kartar Singh, deputy director (South India), British Council, said the project would target entrepreneurs in the fields of music, computer games, films, etc in the small and medium industry.

Among others, the council plans to work jointly with India on mitigating the effects of climate changes. These include making building more green and creation of networking among the scientist and experts in the two countries.

A meeting to finalise the action plan and programmes under a new project called inter-cultural dialogues between UK and India will be held at Delhi this month-end.

Earlier addressing a function here, Singh said South India accounted for 34 per cent of the total students visas issued in India in 2006-07. Of the 27,000-plus students currently studying in the UK, about 6,850 are from South India. Andhra Pradesh topped the list with 40 per cent followed by Tamil Nadu with 28 per cent. Women students constituted 28 per cent.

Indian students mainly prefer business management followed by engineering and information technology.
