Left Front (LF) will organise a protest rally and a sit-in against the hike in petro product prices here on July 12 in which former chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee and CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose would participate.

A LF release said today Bhattacharjee and other front leaders would join the sit-in and protest demonstration near the Ayakar Bhavan (Income-Tax building) here that day.

Bhattacharjee put in a token presence at a Left Front protest demonstration a day after the Centre announced rise in prices of diesel, kerosene and LPG on June 25.

LF constituents attended a meeting here yesterday and expressed concern at the rise in prices of petro products and essential commmodities and chalked out a protest plan.

The meeting decided to hold dharna and protest demonstration in some areas of the metropolis on July 7 to be followed by protest rallies in some city markets in the next three days. LF described the price rise as ''an attack on the common man by the Centre'' and demanded immediate withdrawal of the hike in petro prices.
