The Project Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI) on Thursday along with the state government took stock of 44 projects across sectors like steel, power, coal mining, railways

The CCI team was led by Arun Goel, additional secretary, PMG, Prime Minister's office. "The state administration has been quite prompt and proactive in implementation of the CCI projects", he said. Goel exhorted the project proponents to upload specific problems that they encountered in implementation of the projects on CCI-PMG website.

Among the coal mining projects, the Lingaraj and Garjanbahal mines of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) were reviewed. Power projects proposed by Visa Power, KVK Nilachal, NSL Power, the one proposed by state owned Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd (OPGC) and the upcoming 4000 Mw ultra mega power project (UMPP) at Bhedabahal also came up for scrutiny.

The meeting reviewed the progress of six projects in railway sector, nine in national highways, two in petroleum and natural gas sectors, one in mining sector, 16 in coal sector and nine in power sector. Odisha Chief Secretary A P Padhi set timelines and landmarks for completion of different tasks against each project.

It may be noted that the Centre has put in place the e-PMS, an online project monitoring system to monitor the projects involving investment between Rs 100 crore and Rs1,000 crore. The system tracks and facilitates grounding of all investment projects. It also includes facilities for online submission of projects, editing and updating of the projects, reviewing the projects and submission of details relating to bottlenecks, if any.
