Chhattisgarh government has constituted a high-powered committee to examine and approve projects estimated to cost more than Rs 25 crore.
The state government intends to check unnecessary expenses and financial irregularities in implementing big projects in the state, a senior official with state's finance and planning department said.
The finance and planning department had issued notification for setting up the committee that would be headed by Chief Secretary. The member secretary of the state planning commission will be the member secretary of the committee that will comprise more than half a dozen principal secretaries and secretaries of departments concerned.
The official said that any project of state government departments that would estimate to cost more than Rs 25 crore would now pass through the scanner of the committee. The high-powered committee had been named as Project Construction and Implementation Committee.
The department had to submit a detailed proposal and project report to the committee.
The officials of the department concerned would give the presentation of the project before the committee members, who would examine and review the proposals.
The department official said that the committee would also keep a tab on the purchase of heavy machines, equipment and other materials required for implementing the project.
Experts from finance and technical fields would be included in the committee for examining and reviewing aspects related to the project, the official added.
