Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)plans to set up a task force to help the Bengali film industry. “CII is to create an entertainment task force that would work towards improving the standards of the entertainment industry by means of corporatisation, facilitating technological advancement and better revenue sources,” said Saugat Mukherjee, Regional director, CII.
Speaking at the facilitation ceremony of the Golden Peacock award winning Bengali feature film ‘Moner Manush’ by Goutam Ghose, Mukherjee assured that the entertainment task force will help the Bengali film industry to link with the market and help them reach out to the larger audience, especially the Bengali audience accross the globe.
This proposed task force, to be headed by Sanjay Budhia, chairman, CII National Committee on Trades, is expected to start its operation from January 2011.
While addressing the media on the occasion, Budhia talked about the need to promote and encourage Bengali film industry as it has made the state proud on both national and international podium. “Indian entertainment market is on the threshold of growth and CII is always eager to support the Bengali film fraternity,” added Budhia.
Dirctor Goutam Ghose welcomed this CII initiative. While emphasising on his latest Indo-Bangladesh co-production, "Moner Manush", Ghose said, “There is a massive potential both in terms of revenue and viewership in such co-production initiatives to reach out to the Bengali speaking audiences from around the world.”
