Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today asked APTransco and Discoms to prepare an action plan for power supply for five years taking into account the demand from various sectors. He stressed on reducing transmission losses from the current 17 per cent.
Reddy also directed the officials to complete the process of procurement of power through bidding by the end of January 2011.
The officials were told to release the pending agricultural connection by March end. Over 150,000 agricultural connections were sanctioned during the year and 66,106 connections have been released till December. Agriculture consumption accounted for 17,673 million units in 2009-10. The average energy demand met per day at present is 209 million units.
In a release, the chief minister said he would take up with the Centre issues pertaining to coal linkage and allotment of coal blocks and gas for power projects.
