Chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy wants NTPC-BHEL Power Projects Private Limited to expedite the establishment of the proposed Rs 6000-crore power equipment manufacturing facility at Mannavaram village in Chittoor district.
He asked joint venture chairman and managing director CP Singh to complete the first phase of the project by 2011-2012 and the second phase by 2013-14. On his part, the chief minister extended all support and help for the completion of the project on schedule.
Singh met the chief minister on Monday to discuss the arrangements being made for laying the foundation stone by the Prime Minister for the project, which is expected to provide direct employment to 6,000 people and indirect employment to 25,000.
Reddy also asked officials to lay a four-lane road connecting Mannavaram to the nearest national highway.
