Erratic power supply and an incomplete underpass have forced the government to postpone the deadline for starting domestic operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 (T3) for the third time, to November 14. The initial deadline was July 31. Power supply problems and an incomplete underpass connecting the populous suburb of

Dwarka had prompted the government to postpone it to August 27 and then October 30.

Domestic operations by Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher airlines and their low-cost subsidiaries will now start on November 14. The decision was taken today by the civil aviation ministry.

Civil Aviation Secretary M Madhavan Nambiar met officials of Delhi International Airport Ltd, airlines, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Police and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to review the preparedness for starting domestic operations from the plush T3.

“To ensure least inconvenience to passengers, it was decided at the review meeting that the domestic operations of the three airlines – Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines – from T3 would begin on November 14,” said a release from the ministry. During the meeting, Delhi Metro said the Airport Express Line would be commissioned by the middle of November.
