Sesame seed exporters and traders have demanded exemption in stock limit from the Gujarat government. Seeking removal of stock limit on oil seeds as well, the Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council (IOPEPC) stated exporters are facing trouble in fulfilling export orders.
By notification, the state government has introduced storage restriction of maximum 200 metric tonnes (MT) for edible oil seeds and oil from April 5, 2012 to control increasing edible oil prices. While the government has offered relief to exporters, traders and sesame seed processors still have to follow the limit.
