Finance Minister Arun Jaitely will meet the top brass of the Income Tax department and Central Board of Direct Taxes later this month in the national capital.

Jaitely will have his first full-fledged interaction with the Chief Commissioners and Directors General of Income Tax, the government's direct taxes revenue collection arm, during the annual conference to be held on July 21-22.

"The conference will be the first full-fledged interaction of the top officers of the I-T department with the new Finance minister. All issues pertaining to direct tax collection in the country will be discussed during the two-day event to be held on July 21-22," a Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) official said.

The traditional annual conference, to be held after the budget is presented, will see Jaitely delivering the inaugural address on the first day, and Minister of State for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman talking to the top tax department brass on the closing second day.

Senior I-T and CBDT officers would also deliberate and chalk out plans for the coming year vis-a-vis new announcements

that are expected to be made by the Finance Minister in the budget speech, which is scheduled to be presented on July 10.

The meeting is held every year to discuss on a variety of policy, administrative and operational issues facing the tax department which is mandated to collect taxes under various heads of Income Tax, Corporate Tax, Wealth Tax and similar other duties.
