Raj Bhawan sources said the governor accepted the resignations and requested Apang and his cabinet colleagues to continue as the caretaker ministry till a new government was formed.
Sources close to Apang said that he has tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the Congress party.
Apang and all 41 Congress MLAs have floated a new party called Arunachal Congress formed in the state with Talar Doye as president.
Doye claimed nine associate members of the Congress have joined the new outfit.
Apang has been unanimously elected leader of the Arunachal Congress.
Sources said Apang have been prompted to take this drastic action after the appointment of Tadak Dulom as the new Pradesh Congress president last week, replacing his trusted man Talar Doye without consulting the Congress legislature party leaders.
The rank and file of Congressmen here rejected the appointment of Dulom and resolved not to accept him as the party president. They alleged it had been done without taking into confidence the party and CLP leader Apang. The infighting resulted in unruly scenes and injuries to three senior party leaders when Dulom tried to enter Congress Bhavan..
Dulom has declared he has taken over the presidentship and dissolved the existing office bearers of the Congress party led by Doye.
The All-India Congress Committee had sent party joint secretary S S Thakur to Itanagar on Wednesday to assess the latest political situation.
Thakur has reportedly told Apang and his followers that Congressmen would have to accept Dulom as he was appointed by the party leadership. He cautioned strong action would be initiated against those violating party discipline.
