Goa to host international maritime expo from Oct 17

The Conference will discuss and highlight critical issues confronting the growth of Indian maritime sector

The Ministry of Shipping and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) are jointly organising an international exhibition and conference ‘India Maritime 2012’ from October 17-20, 2012 at Panaji, Goa.

The Government of Goa is the ‘Host State’ for the event. This event will have four days shipping exhibition and two days conference combined.

The Conference will discuss and highlight critical issues confronting the growth of Indian maritime sector. Industry experts will share their thoughts, make presentations on major issues like policy and regulatory reforms, multiplicity of regulations, unfavorable tax regime, capacity constraint at major ports, tariff fixing mechanism, shipbuilding subsidy, inadequate infrastructure and policy support for inland waterways and coastal shipping, among others to build a robust global maritime sector in India.

Policy-makers, regulatory authorities, senior government officials, port trusts, port and terminal operators, port infrastructure developers, ship owners, shipping lines, port and shipping agents, ship builders and repairers, CFS/ICD, dredging companies, financial institutions and insurers, freight forwarders and logistic companies, technology providers, shippers, investors, maritime domain experts among others are expected to participate in the event.

G K Wasan, Minister for Shipping will inaugurate the conference and exhibition. Pradeep K Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Shipping will deliver the keynote address at the conference and Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa will deliver the special address at the conference.
