The government today rejected the Opposition's demand for appointing an Inquiry Commission into the 26/11 Mumbai attacks saying it was "surprising" that it was being made six months after the terror strike.
"I don't think there is a need for a Commission of Inquiry. We are not going to appoint it," Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters.
He was asked to comment on the Opposition's demand for for a commission to look into the Mumbai attacks.
"I am amused by that demand...So far as the Mumbai attacks of 26/11 is concerned, we have all the facts. I have gone into all the records and we are quite clear on how it happened and I have shared it with the House," he said.
The Home Minister said to demand a Commission of Inquiry six months after the event was "surprising".
"Besides, I would like to ask, did the NDA government appoint a Commission of Inquiry after Kandahar? Did they appoint a Commission of Inquiry after Parliament was attacked? I don't think that these kind of statements are going to help the situation," he added.
