Haryana government is identifying land measuring 1,500 to 2,000 acres between Madina and Julana to set up an International Airport.

This was disclosed by Haryana Industries Minister, Randeep Singh Surjewala while addressing members of Bar association at Jind today.

Madina and Julana are at a distance of about 90 kms and 105 kms, respectively, from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The industries minister said the proposed international airport would give boost to the state economy as it is likely to generate revenue to the tune of $10 million. He said Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has taken a number of initiatives to put the state on a fast track of development and this effort was another major step in that direction.

The industries minister said the government was trying to create opportunities for employment on the pattern of the National Capital Region. The efforts would be made to set up private industrial estates in areas where government industrial estates were not functional.

Surjewala said the state government has given impetus to the development in Jind. The construction of bypass road was being undertaken with full swing. The pace of construction work of the regional centre of Kurukshetra University being set up at Jind would be further accelerated, he added.
