Anna Hazare did not utter a word on the 11th day of his fast today except for roaring 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' thrice to cheer his supporters, on a day when the activist and the government were locked in a battle of attrition.
Hazare first appeared on the dais around 12:15 pm and shouted thrice 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' only to retire later to the tent erected behind the dais on Ramlila Maidan, indicating that he was not well in his shape.
His next appearance came around 5 pm when he raised his fist thrice to a loud cheer from the crowd and went back to rest soon. An hour later, he again came back to the stage and sat there for long and chatted with lawyer Shanti Bhushan.
His close associates were seen repeatedly assuring media persons that Hazare will address the protesters on a day when the government and Team Anna were locked in an intense battle of attrition on the Lok Pal Bill issue.
Associates were concerned about his health and some even wondered whether the 74-year-old Gandhian should continue speaking as it would have an adverse impact on his health.
Some supporters were disappointed at Hazare not addressing them while others were ready to take it fearing that it would consume more energy and he would not be able to hold on to his fast.
The Gandhian has lost seven kg in the past 11 days but doctors said he appeared to be healthy.
"His blood pressure and heart beat are okay. He seems to be healthy. He is holding up," Dr Ravi R Kesliwal, who examined Hazare, told reporters here.
Doctors last night said Hazare's condition was "stable" but added that there was reason to worry.
