In a bid to push forward the Rs 400-crore auto component park project proposed by the home grown business conglomerate RSB Group, Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha (Idco) has filed alienation proposal for 712.64 acres of land.
The land has to be acquired in nine villages under Tangi-Choudwar tehsil in Cuttack district. The total land needed for the project includes 436.77 acres of private land with the balance 276.87 acres being government land.
Forest land diversion proposal for an area of 218.44 acres is lying with the regional chief conservator of forests (RCCF)-Angul due to want of certificate under Forest Rights Act- 2006. Chief secretary B K Patnaik has directed the Cuttack collector to conduct the gram sabha and issue the certificate at the earliest.
Meanwhile, for 137.4 acres of private land, notification under Section 6 (1) of Land Acquisition Act has been issued and disbursement is going on at Mania, the site of the auto component park. For the remaining 300 acres of private land needed for the project, 4 (1) notification has been issued for about 204 acres.
The chief secretary has urged the Cuttack collector to expedite the process of disbursement after fixing up compensation price for land.
RSB officials have requested for speeding up the up-gradation of existing 33 KV line to ensure continuous power supply. For approach road, Idco informed that orders under Section 7 have been issued for takeover of 30.24 acres of private land. Idco has also deposited Rs 36.35 lakh towards compensation disbursement. The approach road, however, is facing some problems due to local resistance.RSB Transmission had entered into an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the state government for setting up an auto component manufacturing plant at Choudwar near Cuttack at an estimated cost of around Rs 400 crore. The state offers good resources to support automobile component manufacturing units like availability of quality pig iron, pure aluminium ingot, steel flat products and steel rounds.
In addition to this, there is availability of skilled personnel for the sector with manpower drawn from institutes operating in the city like Central Tool Room Training Centre and Central Institute for Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET).
