The common man is bearing the brunt of rising tomato prices in recent months. However, there is no way the impact could be seen from the wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation data.
The rate of price rise in tomatoes is not given for April, May, June and July in the official data released today.
However, this does not increase or decrease the comparative inflation figures since WPI in tomatoes has not been given for these four months for the past four years since 2011-12.
