With an aim to harness more power, the Uttarakhand government has given its final assent to a new corporation of the irrigation department by approving its structure and various other modalities.
The Uttarakhand Pariyojana Vikas Avam Nirman Nigam limited which can take up multi-purpose works like power generation and various others related to water supply and irrigation will be headquartered in Dehra Dun.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet here which was presided over by Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank here recently. Through this move, the irrigation department is hoping to bag more contracts.
