Japanese Ambassador Akitaka Saiki today said that the Japanese companies are keen to invest in many sectors in West Bengal.
"Japanese investment in West Bengal was discussed and FDI is important to rebuild economy of a state," Saiki told reporters after meeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
However, when asked about the details of the meeting, he said, "We will let you know after discussing with Finance minister Amit Mitra".
Describing his meeting with the chief minister as a courtesy call, the Ambassador said, "I was delighted to talk to the chief minister. I complimented her on her historic victory".
He further told Banerjee that West Bengal and Japan enjoyed strong and historic ties.
"I told her that we will spare no effort in further strengthening the bond," he said.
