Finance minister Jaswant Singh has decided to initiate a few changes in the 20002-03 tax measures in a policy statement he is scheduled to make in Parliament next week while moving the first supplementary demand for grants.
Singh held a meeting of his senior officials on Wednesday to discuss the tax measures and some other measures to boost investor confidence.
According to officials, there is a strong possibility of a review of Section 88 benefits and also of an increase in the tax deducted at source ceiling on income from interest and dividend from the present Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 per annum.
