Karnataka to partner EU for Bangalore Bio 2006

| Addressing Bangalore Bio-2006 trade show, chairperson of the Karnataka Vision Group on Biotechnology, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said that EU is a hub for small and medium biotech enterprises from across the world. Partnering them will give a tremendous boost to the sector and will also encourage more tieups and joint ventures. |

| This year's edition of 'Bangalore Bio-2006' is likely to see participation from over 60 national and international speakers, 400 conference delegates, 125 exhibitors, 20,000 business visitors from over 15 countries. |
| Speaking on the occasion, M K Shankaralinge Gowda, Karnataka secretary IT& BT, said that the $1 billion industry is poised to be a $5 billion by 2010. |
| To attain the stupendous growth, platforms like Bangalore Bio are vital and offers opportunities for the biotech fraternity to interact, network and explore business opportunities through its trade show and international conference. |
| The event is expected to drive the bio-business for a wide spectrum of biotech companies, research process outsourcing (RPOs), bio suppliers and process engineering equipment companies, R&D institutions, biotech educational institutions, venture capital and financial institutions. |
| BIO-2006 is expected to attract a large participation from the global biotech community. The European Union has already confirmed its participate as the international partner. The delegation from Netherlands is keen to hold business-to-business meets. UK Trade and Investment and Intec have always played a significant role and this year is no exception. S Korea will participate in the trade show in significant way. Many more country representatives will participate, making it the biggest international biotech event so far. |
| At the conference, about 20 international speakers are expected to address the multi-track conference to be held at J N Tata Auditorium, Bangalore. |
| India is emerging as R&D lab of the world. Clinical research and research processes outsourcing is becoming a strength for India.
