Kenya seeks $66.5 mn loan from India for rural electricity
Kenya has sought a loan of $66.5 million from India to boost power transmission in the country's remote areas, the prime minister said.
Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga yesterday made the announcement after talks with Indian State of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who is currently visiting the country.
"Kenya has requested India for a concessional loan amounting to $ 66.5 million for power transmission lines," Odinga told reporters.
In April during an India-Africa summit, New Delhi announced a $5.4 billion line credit to African nations for priority sectors, officials said.
