Port Trust has extended the deadline to January 11 for submission of bids for two mechanised berths managed by the Haldia Bulk Terminals before their exit from Haldia.
A senior official of the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) involved in the re-tendering process told PTI that prospective bidders had sought extention for greater clarification on certain aspects of the contract.
"Moreover, December being holiday season overseas, bidders planning to tie up with foreign players sought some more time," the official, who declined to be quoted, said.
Therefore, he said, the last date for submission of bids was shifted from December 17 to January 11, which incidentally was the second extension for the tender since December 3.
KoPT expects at least three bidders out of nine who participated in the pre-bid meeting.
