Sharp differences are believed to have arisen in the inter-ministerial group which met this morning to find out ways to expedite labour law reforms. The group headed by Planning Commission deputy chairman KC Pant decided to set up a group of secretaries (GoS) to examine the issue and come up with suggestions.
In the meeting, labour minister Sharad Yadav is reported to have expressed his reservation over the proposal to amend the Industrial Disputes act and frame an exit policy for industry. Sources in the government say Yadav felt the report of the second National Commission on Labour should be awaited before initiating labour reforms.
