In a bid to signal the beginning of a national stir against the Posco project, the Left parties are to observe this Friday as 'Solidarity Day'.
Addressing journalists, S Sudhakar Reddy, deputy general secretary of the Communist Party of India, said, “Our party has decided to launch a countrywide agitation by observing the ‘Solidarity Day’ on June 24 against the forcible land acquisition in Dhinkia with all Left and secular forces".
Reddy's sentiments were echoed by leaders of the Forward Bloc, Samajwadi Party, Rahstriya Janata Dal and Revolutionary Socialist Party.
Observing a ‘Black Day’ at Dhinkia today with activists of the Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS), Reddy flayed state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for acquiring land forcibly from poverty-stricken farmers and tribals at gunpoint to appease an MNC.
