A delegation of the Opposition parties in Maharashtra today met Governor K Sankarnarayanan demanding dismissal of the Ashok Chavan government in the state over the Adarsh Society scam besides seeking enquiry of politicians and bureaucrats involved in it.

"We demanded that the corrupt Congress-NCP government be dismissed and an enquiry be conducted into the involvement of bureaucrats in the scam," Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Eknath Khadse told reporters here.

Recalling the 26/11 terror attacks in which bureaucrats were saved from any enquiry, Khadse emphasised on initiating action against them this time.

He said the Opposition leaders have also asked the Governor that the role of present and former Chief Ministers be probed in the scam.

Khadse was accompanied by Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai, Diwakar Raote, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar and Vinod Tawade.

Some government officials are also members of the housing society and allegedly gave various approvals for the project.

"Why the MMRDA issued the Occupational Certificate (OC) to the Society when it was BMC's prerogative to grant it," Sena leader Subhash Desai said.

The meeting went on for 20 minutes. The Governor assured them to look into the matter, a leader from the delegation said.
