Mizoram's 3.54% area ideal for paddy: Report

Mizoram has 746.44 sq km potential area for wet rice cultivation, 3.45 per cent of the total area of the state, according to a satellite picture report of the state Remote Sensing Application Centre.     

The reports and maps prepared by RSAC scientists, were presented to the agriculture department today.     

In hilly Mizoram with difficult terrains, only few places mainly in Kolasib and Champhai districts were hitherto considered as suitable for wet rice cultivation.
