Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said Make in India would be the key area of India-UK cooperation, while speaking at the India-UK Tech Summit in New Delhi with British Prime Minister Theresa May present too.

PM May, for her part, said it was vital to identify ways to deepen the trade relationship with India before the United Kingdom leaves the European Union and that she wanted Britain to become a global standard bearer of free trade.

Here is what PM Modi and his UK counterpart had to say at the summit:

1) UK should take advantage of India's FDI policy: PM Modi also said that the UK could benefit from India's liberal foreign direct investment policy in sectors like defence, aerospace and manufacturing.

2) Cooperation in science and tech: "To boost entrepreneurship, science and technology is very important. Science, technology and innovation has a very significant role in our (India-UK) relationship," PM Modi said in his speech.

3) Greater mobility and economic challenges: "We must encourage greater mobility and participation of young people in education and research opportunities," Modi said, adding, "Our countries face economic challenges which directly affect trade and commerce. We together have to create new opportunities."

4) Expedited clearance for Indian business travellers: PM May said Britain would offer expedited clearance at the UK borders under a Registered Traveller Scheme to business travellers from India.

5) Fewer barriers will boost prosperity: May also sad that more investment and fewer barriers to trade between Britain and India would boost prosperity.

6) Britain will champion free trade: "We want Britain to be the most committed and passionate advocate of free trade in the world," May said at the tech summit.
