"A provincial government will be twinning with Odisha to explore the opportunities in the state and vice versa", said M A Zhanwu, Consulate general (Kolkata) of People's Republic of China at an interaction session organized by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). "We had initial discussions with the chief secretary of the state and an announcement may be made later."
However, Zhanwu declined to name the province which will join hands with Odisha.
"There will be an exchange of experiences on urban planning, port development and industries like food processing, textiles and tourism. It depends on the concerted efforts by Odisha and the provincial government", said the Consulate general.
Stating that Chinese companies will be investing one trillion dollars outside China in the next five years, he said, a part of that will come to India and Odisha.
Mentioning that Odisha has a stable political environment, Manish Kharbanda, executive member, ICC said, "Odisha has achieved 8.78 per cent GDP (growth domestic product) growth during 2014-15, 20 per cent higher than India's GDP growth rate and is poised to grow at around 12 per cent by year 2020."
China can have meaningful collaboration at the government level, Kharbanda added.
