OMCs seek hike of Rs 5-16 per cylinder in delivery charges for packed LPG
Hike, likely to be passed onto customers is in an effort to bring down under recovery
Shine Jacob New Delhi In an effort to bring down the under recovery, oil marketing companies have approached the government for a hike in delivery charges for packed LPG transportation by Rs 5-16 per cylinder in plains and hilly areas, which is likely to be passed on to the customers.
State-run companies like Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) have also asked for a revision on LPG delivery charges on a quarterly basis. Under-recoveries for OMCs on account of this, which are not being compensated by the government, accounted to around Rs 529 crore in 2012-13, which is expected to be Rs 600 crore this fiscal.
