India's per capita income grew 9.6 per cent to Rs 74,380 in 2013-14 from Rs 67,839 in the previous year. This means each of the 1.23 billion people would have got Rs 74,380 in 2013-14, if the national income is divided equally among the population. The growth is more or less the same as the 9.7 per cent registered in 2012-13. Per capita income stood at Rs 61,855 in 2011-12.

However, the growth used to be much higher in the previous years. It was 14.5 per cent in 2011-12, 16.8 per cent in the previous year and 13.4 per cent in 2009-10.
