The Lok Sabha is expected to pass the government resolution for extension of Presidents Rule in Uttar Pradesh today afternoon.

According to parliamentary affairs minister Srikant Jena, the leaders of all political parties have agreed that this constitutional obligation should be fulfilled without a debate. Similarly, the budget proposal for the state would also be directly taken up for approval without a debate. Jena said this was decided among the leaders at the Tuesdays Business Advisory Committee meeting because all parties would get ample opportunity to express their views on UP when the BJP-sponsored motion on the recall of Governor Uttar Pradesh is debated next Thursday and Friday.
