Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal inaugurated a centre of excellence for vegetables in collaboration with Israel at Kartarpur near Jallandhar on Tuesday.

He said the ultra-modern techniques used in such centers would update farmers' knowledge. He added the government would open more such centers to promote vegetables and citrus fruits.

He urged farmers to plant more types of crops to raise income as it was high time they change from the routine of wheat-paddy rotation, not only less remunerative but also water-intensive.
