Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Pune on Tuesday and called on Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar.
Gandhi, who is a Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh, visited the Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) at Manjiri near Pune. He was accompanied by two Congress MPs — Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sachin Pilot.
Former Maharashtra Congress president Govindrao Adik, who joined the NCP on Sunday, had written to Congress President Sonia Gandhi just a day before announcing his decision, suggesting her to declare Pawar as the UPA’s prime ministerial candidate and train Rahul under the NCP chief.
