WHAT'S IN STORE
- Rehaul in line with global best practices wherein cash logistics are handled by specialised vendors
- The 4,000-odd chests service a tad over 125,000 bank branches which is woefully low
- CLCs charges, the required criteria, capital thresholds, insurance and re-insurance details are to be worked out
- Shakeout of CLCs on cards as they seek extension to achieve Rs 1 billion capital threshold to 2020 in a staggered manner
- The capital threshold may at a later stage be hiked and linked to risks undertaken much like capital adequacy for banks
- Global players set to walk in or expand footprint. Big names include Brinks (end August global revenues at $3.2 bn), Prosegur ($2.1 bn), Loomis ($2 bn), G4S ($1.5 bn) and Garda (0.8 bn)
