Rs 1.37 cr spent to control dengue in Karnataka

The Karnataka government has spent around Rs 1.37 crore under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to control dengue this year, Health and Family Welfare Minister Aravind Limbavali said today.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Limbavali said the Centre had also helped set up laboratories for testing dengue. “The state has set up 19 centres to provide platelets to dengue patients. Another 12 such centres are on the anvil,” he said.

Voluntary organisations and nursing college students were engaged in conducting the larvae survey to contain regeneration of mosquitoes, Limbavali said.

He said the state has recorded a steep rise in the number of dengue cases this year, with more than 4,000 cases reported till last month and added that 21 persons have died so far.
