The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for half an hour yesterday when Ish Dutt Yadav of the Samajwadi Party refused to take his seat despite repeated apeals from the chair.
Deputy chairperson Najma Heptullah was enraged at Yadavs attempt to talk about Uttar Pradesh when Union home minister Indrajit Gupta stood up to clarify on the issue of ULFA kidnapping of social worker Sanjay Ghosh in Assam. Have we become so insensitive to human sufferings, she asked.
Yadav once again raised issues concerned Uttar Pradesh when Gupta concluded, and ignored Heptullahs ruling that he should cooperate and allow others to raise their call attention mentions for which they had obtained permission from the chair. She called upon Congress member Vayalar Ravi to raise his issue.
However, when Yadav continued with his speech and refused to heed to repeated pleas, she abruptly adjourned the house for half an hour.
Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was sitting in the front rows when Ish Dutt Yadav tried to raise the Uttar Pradesh issue.
