State to hand over 102 acres to BMIC

The Karnataka government has decided to hand over 102 acres of land to the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMIC) being executed by the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) for speedy completion of peripheral ring road connecting into Mysore expressway.

Briefing reporters on Tuesday state home minister, V S Acharya, said, “To facilitate additional land transfer and as the matter is before the courts, the state cabinet has decided to wind up the B C Patil led judicial commission appointed to probe into the excess land allotted to BMIC project.”

The State Cabinet also decided to extend Bangalore Metro project’s North-South Corridor from Hesaraghatta road to Jaraganahalli at an additional cost of Rs 1,592 crore. It has also given green signal to take up survey work for the phase II of the Bangalore Metro project from the Electronic City to Whitefield link at Rs 6,395 crore.

Acharya, said the Cabinet approved continuance of Self Assessment Scheme (SAS) to levy property tax in Bangalore city.

Under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission state government plans to take up Bangalore Traffic Transit Management project at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore.

The government also sanctioned Rs 16.20 crore for acquiring land for the proposed Devaraj Urs Truck Terminal project in Mysore.
