Delayed by 10 days, the Southwest Monsoon today reached eastern Rajasthan giving respite to people from sweltering heat.
"Monsoon rains have occurred in Uaipur, Jaipur and Dholpur divisions since the wee hours," S S Singh, Director of State Meteorological Department, told PTI here.
Light to moderate rains were received in parts of Ajmer, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jaipur, Sawaimadhopur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, and Kota districts, he said.
A maximum rainfall of 29.8 mm was recorded at Bharatpur followed by Jaipur 23.2mm, Banswara 16.4 mm and Chittorgarh 8 mm.
Monsoon would further advance to rest of the state in the next couple of days, Singh said.
Meanwhile, an agriculture department spokesman said that the sowing of mid-year crop would begin in the rainfed area with the arrival of monsoon.
