"We disagreed to agree on most of the issues in the talks (held last weekend between Chinese officials and representatives of Dalai Lama)," Lody Gyary and Kelsang Gyaltsen, who were part of the delegation, told reporters here. The only issue on which the two sides agreed was to have the next round of talks, Gyari said.
He said that the Tibetan government-in-exile was of the view that the talks be held before the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing in August.
"The recent crisis in Tibet is clear symptom of deeply felt grievances and resentment of the Tibetans with the policies (of China). The task at hand is to address the legitimate concerns of the Tibetan people in a realistic and constructive way," the envoys said.
Gyari said that they asked the Chinese delegation, which included Executive Vice Minister Zhu Weiqun, to stop oppressive policies in Tibet, release Tibetans from jails and give proper medical help to the injured.
