"We will undertake roadshows in Indian major cities like Delhi and Mumbai to attract tourists from India and would work in close co-ordination with Indian travel fraternity," Tanzania Minister for Natural Resource and Tourism Shamsa Selengia Mwangunga told reporters here.
The trade sessions in New Delhi and Mumbai which Tanzania is taking as part of marketing initiative would also serve as platform to explore business opportunities, address bi-lateral issues and help in comprehending travel related matters between the two countries, she said.
According to Tanzania tourism department out of three million Indian tourists visiting abroad only 15,000 Indian visited the country, not enough air links between two countries being one of the reason.
The African country is also planning to strengthen air link between the two countries and the Tanzania tourism industry is keen to explore productive business ties with Indian counterparts to target high-end leisure traffic from here.
"In order to substantiate the arrivals from Indian market, Tanzania's national airline 'Air Tanzania' is in the process of providing air links to Mumbai, catering to business and leisure traffic from the city," she added.
