Taxpayers to share mobile nos with I-T dept

Taxpayers filing their income tax returns this year will have to share their email IDs and mobile phone numbers with the tax department. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the administrative authority of the I-T department, has introduced a new column in the I-T return Forms asking for filer's personal email ID and mobile number.

Whenever the taxpayer changes the mobile number or e-mail ID in their profile, the process will be repeated to ensure the particulars provided are correct, it added.
