TREAMIS, an educational foundation set up by a few NRIs, has planned an international school (TREAMIS World School) in Bangalore, in association with Morgan Park Academy, Chicago.

The school, which aims to offer education to students from kindergarten to the Std XII, is being set up at the Electronics City in Bangalore with an investment of close to Rs 20 crore.

In the first year of its operations starting from July this year, the school aims to offer kindergarten to Std VI. Next year, it will launch Std VII to Std XII, with a choice of Indian (CBSE), Cambridge (IGCSE), International Baccalaureate (IB) and US curriculum.

However, at the lower level till Std VI, the curriculum has been seamlessly integrated with the US.

"The value proposition of TREAMIS is unique. It will provide education to children of relocating global employees and the experience of global learning environment to the local children," said Venkatesh Koravadi, managing director, TREAMIS.

The foundation is also planning similar schools in other parts of the country including Gurugaon, he added.

TREAMIS had done a survey before starting the project in Bangalore. Koravadi said the survey found that there were over 60,000 employees living in the vicinity of the school. Besides, of about 16,000 NRIs who returned last year, 14,000 were residing in Bangalore.

"The expatriate families would definitely prefer to send their children to a school which will provide the best of the US and Indian education in a holistic manner, in a truly international environment," he added.

According to the school management, the fee structure for admission in the present year will be in the range of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh.

Next year onwards, the foundation plans to start partial residential school with accommodations for about 200 students. The school is being set up on 11 acres of land.
