But we are also aware of the fact that we may not last for five years at the Centre, the senior Janata Dal leader remarked.
Speaking to newsmen at a meet the press programme at the UP Press Club here, Paswan said Congress had supported a secular government at the Centre to keep the BJP out of power and he hoped this support would continue.
He, however evaded a direct reply when asked whether he saw any threat to the UF government in the event of the alignment of all the groups of the Congress and the Janata Dal being reduced to a minority in the number game.
This is a hypothetical question, Paswan said adding that the Front had never bothered about such things.
With 45 MPs, the Janata Dal had thought of sitting in opposition but it was due to the joining of hands by all secular forces that we got the opportunity to rule at the Centre, he said.
