UN chief Ban Ki-moon will travel to quake-hit Haiti on Sunday to show solidarity with the Haitian people and the local UN staff and assess humanitarian needs, a UN statement said today.

He also plans to "assess the humanitarian assistance effort and the scale of the disaster for himself," the statement added.
