US has said that it values the role being played by India at the world stage and looks forward to working with New Delhi on the UN Security Council.
"India is an emerging global power in its own right, and it is increasingly involved and engaged in global challenges from regional security to the environment," State Department spokesman P J Crowley said.
"So we value the role that India is playing on the world stage and look forward to working with India on the Security Council," Crowley said in response to a question.
India has joined the UN Security Council as its non-permanent member for a two year term beginning January 2011.
