BJP Lok Sabha candidate Varun Gandhi today filed his reply to the Election Commission's notice in connection with his alleged anti-Muslim speeches, three days after the poll panel issued notice to him.
Lawyers of 29-year-old Varun filed the reply this morning to the notice served on him by the EC for making speeches that had communal overtones during his rallies in Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh.
His lawyers, however, refused to give details about the reply.
The Uttar Pradesh government had yesterday suspended a Pilibhit SHO, while the EC had ordered the suspension of Additional District Magistrate S S Kamal and Additional Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kush in connection with the case.
The Commission had also ordered the transfer of district magistrate M P Agarwal and Superintendent of Police P R K Chaturvedi to non-election related posts.
