| In his inaugural address, Sudhir Sanghi, vice-president of Fapcci, said, in many labour-intensive manufacturing and service organisations, the labour costs constituted 60 per cent of the cost of production and service. |

| In order to cut down the cost on labour and thereby reduce the cost of production, more and more companies were outsourcing the business processes, he added. |

| R Karikal Valaven, commissioner of labour, who inaugurated the workshop, said the welfare of labour should also be kept in mind by companies while outsourcing the work. |
